A litigation lawyer asked the FFP forensic team to perform an investigation into the financial records under the control or influence of a client’s senior accounting employee. FFP uncovered information that he had allegedly misappropriated corporate funds to pay the suppliers of a business he owned personally, pay personal legal fees and obtain a tax refund by manipulating payroll remittances. FFP worked in conjunction with legal counsel to pursue recovery remedies through civil litigation. FFP also assisted in submitting a proof of loss to the company’s insurer. As a result, the client recovered 95% of the $1.5 million that had been misappropriated.
